Albania 2025 Bucket List Destination: Why You Should Visit

Find out why Albania 2025 bucket list destination should be at the top of your travel plans.

Okay, listen up. If you haven’t already heard about Albania, you’re missing out. Trust me, this country is a hidden gem that should absolutely be on your 2025 bucket list!

Here’s why:

There’s Always Something Happening

A lot of events take place in Albania throughout the year, so you’ll never run out of things to do! From larger events like music festivals and concerts to everyday activities such as visiting museums, joining cooking classes, or taking part in painting and ceramic workshops, there’s always something happening.

Here’s an image from a ceramic workshop I joined in December, one of the many fun and creative activities you can experience here.

EXPLORE THE COUNTRY

There’s something incredibly fulfilling about exploring a new country…new memories to make and fresh adventures to share with friends the next time you catch up.

If you’re the adventurous type, Albania is the place for you. Prepare to hike through some of the most amazing spots you’ve ever seen. The Albanian Alps? Yep, they’re just as stunning as they sound. With countless trails to explore, from easy strolls to more challenging hikes, you’ll be treated to views that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie.

From hidden beaches to natural spas, Albania has it all. The south is especially famous for its beautiful beaches, but there are still plenty of bays that are lesser-known, even to locals like me! The villages are perfect for a weekend/a few-day getaway, surrounded by mountains and greenery. The north of Albania is particularly loved for its untouched nature, mountainous landscapes, hiking opportunities, and traditional cuisine.

And if you’re based in Tirana and planning to spend some time there, there’s still plenty to explore nearby, for example, “Dajt”, “Shkalla e Tujanit”, “Kruja”, etc.

Stunning Beaches (Without the Crowds)

Like I mentioned, Albania’s beaches are pretty amazing and still relatively undiscovered. Some of the best spots you might want to check out are Borsh Beach, Lukova Beach (near Gjiri Blu or The Old Anchor), Buneci Beach, and Porto Palermo.

And if you’re looking for even more hidden gems, try Gjiri Guma, Aquarium Beach, or Gjipe Beach.

Culture and Traditions You Probably Haven’t Heard Of

No photo description available.

Albania has a very interesting and unique culture that might just surprise you. In fact, I’ve already touched on more detail some interesting facts about Albania, so feel free to check them out!

With ancient traditions and modern influences coexisting, a lot of Albanians have managed to preserve many of its customs (or at least practice some of them). You’ll find local traditions that go back centuries, like Besa (a sacred code of honour practised in the north) and traditional folk music that’ll have you tapping your feet (played at weddings, events, and celebrations). And don’t even get me started on the food, it’s absolutely mouth-watering! You can enjoy classics like fërgesë, byrek, and baklava, while learning about the story behind each dish.

Affordability for Your Travel Budget

Let’s be honest: travelling can get pretty pricey. And to be completely transparent, prices have been rising in recent years in Albania as well. But compared to other Western European destinations, Albania is still a steal. You can enjoy high-quality experiences without blowing your budget…especially if you know where to look.

Warm and Welcoming Locals

One of the best parts about visiting Albania is the people. Albanians are known for their hospitality and warmth, making you feel right at home the moment you arrive. It’s all part of the experience!
