What’s On in Albania This May (Events + Activities)

One of the things I love most about Albania is that there’s always something going on.

An event, a festival, a marathon, or a random concert you didn’t expect to stumble upon, there’s always a reason to step out and enjoy something new. May, especially, is packed with energy. The weather is just right, people are out and about, and the event calendar is full of fun things to check out across the country.

Here are some events and activities happening in Albania in May, that you might want to attend, or know of:

Romeo & Juliet on Ice – Tirana

For the first time in Albania, the famous love story of Romeo & Juliet is being performed like never before! An incredible performance will be live for the public as a mix of classical ballet, figure skating, and theater, all on an ice stage.

Giro d’Italia 2025 – Starting in Albania

For the first time, the prestigious cycling race kicks off in Albania with three stages before heading to Italy. It’s a big deal for sports fans and a great opportunity to witness world-class cycling.

A significant event in the country’s political calendar. It’s an important time for locals, with various events and discussions happening nationwide.

Date: May 11, 2025

European Political Community Summit – Tirana

Albania hosts this major political summit, bringing together leaders from across Europe to discuss key issues.

Date: May 15-16, 2025

UEFA European Under-17 Championship

Albania welcomes young football talents from across Europe for this championship. Matches will be held in several cities, mentioned below.

Speed Masters Athletics – Shkodra

This international athletics event brings together master athletes (35+) from around the world to compete in everything from sprinting and hurdles to long jump and javelin. Albanian Night – Tirana

If you’d like to know about Albanian culture and traditions, this event is a must. Hosted regularly in Tirana, Albanian Night is all about traditional music, folk dancing, and local hospitality. You’ll enjoy live performances, costumes, and an open invitation to dance, even if it’s your first time trying! It’s a fun, welcoming way to connect with the heart of Albania.

Date: Every day of the week between nine AM and ten in the evening.

Albania AfroLatin Festival – Golem & Southern Albania

If you’re into dancing or just love a cool atmosphere, the Albania AfroLatin Festival is a must-attend. From May 7 to 12, 2025, the Grand Blue Fafa Resort in Golem transforms into a hub for salsa, bachata, and kizomba enthusiasts. Expect a week filled with workshops, beach parties, and social dances, all set against the beautiful Albanian coastline.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. From May 13 to 17, join the AfroLatin South Trip, a journey through Albania’s southern regions, featuring boat parties, beach gatherings, and cultural excursions.

Berat: Osum Canyon and Bogove Waterfall Tour

For nature enthusiasts, this tour offers a chance to explore the stunning Osum Canyon and the refreshing Bogove Waterfall. It’s a perfect day trip to enjoy Albania’s natural beauty.
