This autumn, Albania is expecting some exciting events for everyone to enjoy. So, whether you live in the country or are planning an autumn getaway, you might want to check them out to see how you can join in on the fun.

Tirana Running Marathon

The largest sporting event in Albania, the Tirana Marathon, will be back this year on October 20th. Last year, the event welcomed more than 5000 participants, both Albanians and foreigners.

The marathon offers various races to accommodate different levels of runners, including the full marathon, half-marathon, 10k run, and the inclusive ‘We Too’ category, which encourages participation from people of all abilities.

Art Exhibitions

The autumn season in Albania welcomes a few interesting art exhibitions.

Kicking off the art scene is the exhibition “The Feminine Urge To…” at the Bazament Art Space in Tirana, running from June 13th to September 13th, 2024. This exhibition explores the multifaceted nature of femininity through various artistic expressions.

The Gurgur Gallery in Petrelë hosts “Nëpërmjet” by Fabiola Skraqi from July 11th to September 7th, 2024 is another ongoing art exhibition.

Cultural Festivals

The 4th edition of the Art House School residency program in Shkodër, from September 9th to 22nd, 2024, brings together eight young artists from the Balkans and Europe to explore the theme “What’s left?”

Tirana European Youth Film Festival from September 5th to 10th, 2024, is a non-profit initiative dedicated to bringing European cinema to Tirana.

The ION Festival 2024 will last seven days, feature over 70 artists across six stages, and present a variety of musical styles.

Shkodër will also host the 3rd edition of the Idromeno Independent Film Festival in October. This festival ocuses on independent productions and small production houses. Now in its third edition, the festival is set for October 5-11, 2024, with the theme “Metamorfoza.”.

Elbasan’s Skampa Theater Festival, held annually in Elbasan, celebrates contemporary theater with a rich program of performances, workshops, presentations, exhibitions, and concerts.

The Kosovo Albania Theatre Showcase in Tirana is an event that highlights the best contemporary theater from Kosovo and Albania.

Also, if you’re interested in more cultural and artistic activities, don’t miss the classical performances by “Teatri i Operës dhe Baletit” at the Palace of Congresses. Check out their Instagram to be updated on the latest shows.
